Everybody knows that the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is a successful event, but the Italian organisers never fail to be amazed at the high number of requests that flood in each year to take part in the race.

There’s been an incredible result yet again for the 33rd edition next July with 31,600 requests recorded on the race’s website from 90 different countries all over the world and from all Italian provinces.

“This number helps us to understand just how important the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is for thousands of enthusiasts: an importance that goes beyond the race itself and that drives us to always do better,” said Nicole Dorigo of Alta Badia tourist Office.

For safety and practical reasons, the number of registrations cannot exceed 9,000 however so race organisers carried out the draw: the names of all the lucky cyclists will be published on the website, and for anyone whose name wasn’t picked, there’s the chance to take part by purchasing a charity registration.

The Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel has always made its charity work one of its strengths. Thanks to the higher-priced registrations, the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is able to support concrete solidarity projects that help people in Italy and all over the world. This year, four different organisations will be able to take their work that one step further, thanks to the proceeds generated by our charity registrations.

These are the non-profit/NGO “Insieme si può” (www.365giorni.org) involved in honey production in Uganda; Healthy Seas, a Dutch association whose aim is to clean the planet’s oceans from marine pollution; Assisport Alto Adige, that supports real sports talents – youngsters who would otherwise not have the chance to pay for themselves to take part in competitions and “Alex Zanardi BIMBINGAMBA” Association , an association that provides artificial limbs for children who have suffered amputation and who are unable to receive treatment from the health care system.

194 higher-priced charity registrations are available to buy online (payment via credit card) from the website www.maratona.it.
