So September is well underway and schools are in full swing! Children are busy learning about the world, playing with their friends, experiencing sport and music and letting their creative sides run free.
But why should the kids have all the fun? This is the question asked by specialist holiday company Travelbag, who this year are hoping to get the adults back in the classroom with a new range of tailor-made holidays. Visiting some of the most spectacular locations the world has to offer, learning about geography, wildlife, art and music, even learning a range of new skills? We think they might be on to a winner.
Of course, we’re slightly biased but we think the mountains make for the best classrooms, so we were immediately drawn to Travelbag’s Canadian offering. Western Canada is renown for its incredible natural beauty and the stunning mountain landscape of the Canadian Rockies. Try white water rafting along the Athabasca river, take a walk with a wildlife interpreter, canoe along the Bow River or spend your days hiking, horse riding or mountain biking.
In the midst of this amazing scenery, Travelbag are keen to teach visitors about the local wildlife. You can try whale spotting off the Vancouver coast, or try your hand at nature photography, getting up close and personal (through a zoom lens of course, we’re not trying to kill you) with the wild bears in Banff National Park. If this all seems a bit much, never fear, you can also wind down with a revitalising dip in one of the mineral-filled hot spring pools.
Now, if you prefer the koala to the wild bear, you can also broaden your horizons in the Northern Territory of Australia, experiencing a geology lesson like never before. A four-wheel, self-driving experience, you will soak in the wonders of two of Australia’s most beautiful national parks, Kakadu and Nitmiluk. Both these parks contain some incredible geological sites and you will learn a lot. You can also extend your trip with a visit to the iconic Uluru (Ayer’s Rock). It’s not quite a mountain but we still think it’s pretty great.
If you’re feeling like a venture away from the mountains, we won’t judge. Some of Travelbag’s most popular experiences include art trips to the UAE, history lessons in China, cookery school in India and a chance to let your musical talents run free in New Orleans.
