A Feast for the Senses in the Dolomites

This summer the Alta Badia region of the Italian Dolomites is aiming to provide the ultimate foodie escape.

The stunningly beautiful area in the Italian mountains will host a choice of gourmet events.

“With six Michelin Star restaurants there is no other destination in Europe with the same offering for food lovers and adventurers alike,” a spokesperson for the region claimed.

Events include:

  • Sommelier in the mountain hut – Dedicated to the best wines of South Tyrol, spend the day at over 2,000m in a traditional mountain hut with an expert sommelier to guide you through a specially picked wine selection which represent the best of this small and diverse wine region. Taking place 13 July, 20 July, 3 August, 10 August and 17 August.
  • Aperitivo at the foot of Gardenaccia – Enjoy aperitivo prepared by locals including traditional Ladin dishes. At the foot of the Gardenaccia, this unforgettable setting is perfect for viewing the natural phenomenon, Enrosadira, where the Dolomites glow with red and pink hues at sunset. The famous writer, architect and painter, Le Corbusier called it “the most beautiful natural architecture in the world”. Taking place 20 August.
  • Cooking in the mountains – For the first time, take part in an outdoor cooking presentation surrounded by the Dolomites. With your own cooking station and local chef on hand, learn how to create a selection of dishes. Taking place 19 July, 26 July, 2 August and 23 August.
  • Dinner under the stars – Dine alfresco like never before, in front of the steps of the church of San Leonardo at a long table set for a feast to be shared between travellers and locals alike with a host of delicacies under the bright nights stars. Taking place at 7pm on 12 July.

The Hotel Sassongher, a traditional South Tyrolean family-owned hotel, rated five star and located in the Alpine town of Corvara in the heart of the Alta Badia region has rooms available from €175 per person per night*.

Following a day exploring the mountains, relax in the spa and dine in the hotel’s authentic Stube restaurants, one of which dates back to the 16th century.
