Volunteering in the Realm of Pure MTB Action – Crankworx Innsbruck is Back!

Crankworx, the world’s biggest mountain bike gravity festival, will return to Innsbruck, Austria in June 2018. Want to follow the action up close as a volunteer? Be sure to sign up as soon as possible as registration ends on 30 April.

Crankworx Innsbruck stands for five days of pure action that would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the volunteer team tirol. From 13 to 17 June the world’s best freestyle MTB athletes will go head-to-head in the disciplines Whip-Off, Pump Track, Dual Speed & Style, Slopestyle and Downhill at the Bikepark Innsbruck.

Be part of the action again in 2018!

Volunteering as part of the volunteer team tirol is the perfect way to take a look behind the scenes of this spectacular international event and follow the action at each and every competition. Registration is open until 30 April, but be warned: there are a total of just 200 volunteer places available. Signing up couldn’t be easier – all you need to do is visit the online platform and enter your details. In early May we will then let you know who will be volunteering at Crankworx Innsbruck 2018 and in which area he/she will be supporting the organising team.

The volunteer community is already looking forward to the second edition of Crankworx Innsbruck. “I worked as a volunteer last year at Crankworx and hope to be a course marshal again this year. It was an incredible experience being close to the action and seeing the athletes at close quarters,” explains Mike Woltering.

Sport Operations, Accreditation, Logistics, Event Services, Marketing and Media & Communications are just a few of the twelve different areas which volunteers can be assigned to depending on their personal preferences, skills and experience. There really is something for all ages and interests. Local heroes impressed by volunteer team tirol

“It was an incredible experience to compete at Crankworx Innsbruck and I am so happy to be back on the start line again in 2018,” comments Peter Kaiser, Tyrol’s best slopestyle rider. Some of his most vivid memories are of the special atmosphere at the event, thanks in no small part to the volunteer team tirol.

“The many local and international volunteers at Crankworx Innsbruck created such a cool vibe and themselves got to take a look behind the scenes. I hope this year there will again be lots of volunteers from the local MTB scene supporting the event.”

Local rider Paula Zibasa competed in last year’s Crankworx Innsbruck Downhill and at the tender age of just 17 years was able to win the Under 19 classification. “It is such a cool feeling that Crankworx is coming back to my home city of Innsbruck again this year and that I will be able to race downhill on my home mountain.”

Like Peter Kaiser, Zibasa was seriously impressed by the volunteers who helped make Crankworx Innsbruck such a success in 2017. “Volunteers experience the event and all the MTB disciplines at Crankworx Innsbruck from a unique perspective. Last year there were volunteers of all ages. That shows that Crankworx really is an event for everyone.”

As well as Crankworx, Innsbruck is set to welcome a number of major international events in the next few years such as the IFSC Climbing World Championships (2018) the UCI Road World Championships (2018) and the Winter World Masters Games (2020).
