The Dubai Fitness Challenge

STORY BY Patrick 4th November 2017

This weekend marked the half-way point of the inaugural Dubai Fitness Challenge which sees hundreds of thousands of participants from across the city commit to 30 minutes of any exercise for 30 days.

In a huge fitness event at the city’s world famous skydive centre, Skydive Dubai, participants took part in sunrise yoga on the spectacular setting of the runway and battled it out for fitness supremacy dressed as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Thor for Dubai’s first ever Superheroes Walkathon.

Citizens, residents and visitors to the city also had the chance to try a host of extreme, adventure and differently abled sports including BMX and parkour courses, a skate park, climbing wall, kayaking, paragliding, wheelchair rugby, boccia and sitting volleyball.

The first-of-its-kind challenge which runs from 20th October to 18th November boasts a packed calendar of sporting events with over 1,500 free workout classes and 75 pop up fitness locations with the aim of making Dubai the most active city in the world.  Participants are tracking their performance and their contribution to the city on the Dubai Fitness Challenge app.
