Forest Holidays to Open in Snowdonia, Wales, This Summer

STORY BY Megan Hughes 15th January 2018

In a first for Wales, Forest Holidays have announced that they will open at their tenth location, Snowdonia, in Summer 2018. New luxury eco cabins are soon to be created amongst the trees at Beddgelert in Snowdonia National Park, a first for Forest Holidays in Wales.

Forest Holidays offers eco-friendly cabins, which blend into the forest, enhancing the surrounding woodland, its wildlife and their habitats. They offer the ideal getaway for those who want to rediscover the natural world, explore the beauty of the local area and reconnect with those closest to them.

Bruce McKendrick, Chief Executive Officer, Forest Holidays said: “Snowdonia National Park is a spectacular destination and we are delighted that we will soon provide a gateway for our guests to experience all that North Wales has to offer.”

The new location of Beddelgert Forest is set in an area steeped in myths and legends, a mere two and a half miles from the foot of Mount Snowdon. The area offers miles of walking paths and great mountain bike trails through the attractive conifer woodland. With great views towards Snowdon and a beautiful path around Llyn Llewellyn, cyclists can spot The Welsh Highland Railway’s classic steam trains as they ride through the forest.

The forest is home to a rich array of wildlife from squirrels to moles and bats as well as birds such as Redstarts, Oyster Catchers and Kingfishers. All of Forest Holidays locations have a dedicated Forest Ranger who delivers a unique programme of guided walks, including ‘Night Vision’ and ‘Forest Survival’, tailored for different age groups and based around the forest environment.

The local area here offers an array of attractions, from nearby Porthmadog with its rich maritime history and is home to The Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways to Caernarfon, home to the famous world heritage castle. This latest Forest Holidays location, which is designed to compliment 85 existing camping and caravanning pitches, will generate year-round employment opportunities for the local community.

One of the highlights of a holiday in the UK is taking advantage of the changing seasons. As such, Forest Holidays offers relaxing year-round mid-week and weekend breaks, as well as week-long holidays offering the chance to appreciate spectacular woodlands as they change throughout the year.

Offering guests the chance to enjoy a peaceful getaway surrounded by picturesque British forests, Forest Holidays are passionate about connecting people, nature and local communities. A joint venture with the Forestry Commission, the cabins are architecturally designed to fit sensitively within the woodland environment with modest central facilities.

Forest Holidays are offering special early booking discounts of 15% this summer when booking before 31/1/18.  A Snowdonia 3 night weekend break in June starts from £576 (inc.discount) for a 2 bedroom cabin with hot tub (sleeps 4).
