Get off the Gadgets and Find Adventure This Summer!

STORY BY Megan Hughes 21st March 2018

With a growing trend towards summer holidays that offer more than just a beach, many families are eager to find an escape which offers both adventure and relaxation. A chance to leave the gadgets at home and get out and explore what nature has to offer. This summer, Stanford Skiing are offering something new that delivers just that.

As the name suggests, Stanford accommodates guests for ski weekends and holidays in the beautiful alpine resort of Megève. However this summer Stanford is opening it’s doors for the first time at Chalet Les Clochettes offering adventure holidays for a week or longer or just 3/4 days. Grab a quick flight over to Geneva, then spend the holiday mountain biking, white water rafting, canyoning, hiking, horse riding, paragliding, whatever takes your fancy.

Megève is a picturesque and traditional Savoyard village in the French Alps with stunning mountain scenery. Set in a lush green valley, picturesque chalets are bedecked with overflowing flower boxes, the air is imbued with the scent of pine trees and alpine flowers, as far as imaginable from a gadget-focused, fast-paced life back home. The towering white mass of Mont Blanc dominates the background promising an adventure playground of activities.

If adrenaline isn’t your thing, why not relax by a mountain lake, visit the local market or enjoy one of the many bands that come and play in the village square? Megève is a gorgeous town in which to be based, one which still has horse drawn caleche carriages, traditional alpine architecture and charming cobbled street. It offers a mixture of sophistication with its high classed boutiques, restaurants, bars and delicatessens; and healthy outdoor living with a plethora of activities to be experienced

Stanford Ski Director Elizabeth Cahir says “Megève is just lovely in the summer, we have been enjoying it for 20 years but we feel it’s time to stop being selfish and let others in on the secret! We have always loved the quiet, clean, wholesome-ness of a holiday in the mountains, where all tastes are catered for, whether you are swimming and sunbathing in the crystal clear lake, or white water rafting and mountain biking.  We hope that our guests will enjoy it every bit as much as we do.”
