This weekend Mont-Sainte-Anne in Quebec will host the downhill and cross-country UCI Mountain bike World Cup at the Vélirium.

It’s the 27th time that visitors will once again have the opportunity to see the top riders in these disciplines in action with athletes arriving from all over the globe.

“As a mountain biking cradle in the Quebec province, Mont-Sainte-Anne has gained notoriety in the area by hosting the event that has become a must for the elite of this sport,” said Geneviève Clavet, Communications Manager at the resort, adding,

“It has enabled the resort to quickly position itself on the international scene.”

Mont-Sainte-Anne will also host its third World Championships in two years’ time in 2019, having previously staged the Championships in 1998 and 2010.

“By then, the resort’s team is mobilizing to help the Gestev organization make the event a great success, whether it’s by making equipment available or the support in the site preparation,” said Geneviève Clavet.

The World Cup provides the opportunity for visitors to meet high-level athletes, as well as to enjoy the trails of Mont-Sainte-Anne for themselves.

“Every year, visitors are astonished to be so close to the action. I personally invite people to come and enjoy this unique event, and thereby to practice an outdoor and physical activity. Having our facilities encourage and enable the population to be active and maintain a healthy lifesyle is part of our mission at Mont-Sainte-Anne“, said Daniel Rochon, Vice President and Director at Mont-Sainte-Anne.

Those inspired to try some mountain biking for themselves can visit the resort’s Sports Alpins boutique and rental shop, located directly at the base of the mountain, which offers clothing, accessories, snacks, sandwiches and refreshments, as well as Scott bikes rentals for downhill and cross-country.

All rental costs include trail access and lift access for downhill.
