10 MINS WITH: Charlotte Bryant

STORY BY admin 29th January 2017

Charlotte Bryant, 24, World Cup Gold medallist, Junior European Champion and a 7 time UK National Champion is a pro Wakeboarder from London, England.  She travels the world living an endless summer spending 3 months in Australia, 3 months in the USA and 6 Months in the UK each year.  Currently In Australia training and coaching until April, she will then move to the USA to start the contest season off.

How are you and what does 2017 hold for you?

I am great thank you! 2017 has a lot in store for me I just got an invite to the World Games as the only female rider from the UK.  I have not got my full schedule yet but it is looking stacked, with a minimum of 10 contests. I also have a lot of coaching planned so keep an eye out on my social media pages for the dates!

You’re currently in Australia, is that your winter training home?

Yes this is my 3rd season here and I love it. I just come here to ride a bit of cable and break up the seriousness and goof around with my friends.

What contests have you got lined up for this year?

This year so far I have the Wake Games in Orlando FL, World Games in Poland, UK Nationals, Europeans, Worlds, World Cup, Chill and Ride Germany and lots more that have not been announced yet.

What are your goals for the year? This year I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and learn lots of new tricks. I would love to land a trick that a woman has not done yet.

You travel the world for contests, where’s the most breath-taking place you’ve gone to ride?

There are many places I have been to that are amazing. But I really love riding in Yarrawonga, Australia. It used to be a forest and got flooded so there are loads of dead trees sticking up out of the water, it makes such a scenic setting its beautiful.

Have you been to ride at any mountain lake destinations?

I have ridden in Bulgaria on a lake that is up in the mountains. This was pretty awesome riding on the lake and the snow was still on the mountains as I was riding with no wetsuit. It was so pretty! My ultimate lake that exists is in Yarrawonga if it glassy it is perfect!

Do you love the mountains?

I think mountains are amazing and so beautiful, but I don’t really get up in the mountains much to be honest! I have been snowboarding once on real snow and it was a lot of fun. I just never get a chance to go out as I chase the sun. I do need to take more time out to go as I have such a great opportunity out in Bulgaria with Snow and Wake Bulgaria. The mountains there are awesome and its so cheap!

Any other sports you do?

I don’t really do any other sports much I train a lot in the gym in the off season. I also love to wake surf to break up training. I sometimes surf but I am not very good! Haha!

Ultimate place to live?

This is a hard question! I have seen some awesome pictures on the internet of houses over the sea in Mauritius. I think I would have a house there and I will have a house on Lake Holden in Orlando with a Mastercraft Xstar and a jet ski.  That would be nice two houses with lots of toys!  @charlottebryant
