5 Reasons To Go Travelling With Strangers

STORY BY Emmanuelle 21st March 2019

Travelling around the globe to exotic locations can be a daunting thought, let alone if you’re considering travelling solo. But there is another option: going with absolute strangers. Although some would cringe at the thought, there are tonnes of reasons why you should step out of your comfort zone and embrace getting to know someone new!

Elle Voyage is a travel company exclusively for women who long to have an adventure, to discover different cultures, visit diverse continents, and stumble across breath-taking landscapes where they can make memories that last a lifetime. Today Elle Voyage owner and tour specialist, Dawn Simone, is sharing her top five reasons to go travelling with strangers!

1. Break away from the norm – when you travel with people you know, you may tend to stick to them for the whole trip, not getting the chance to talk to new and interesting characters who you wouldn’t usually cross paths with. Travelling with strangers forces you to form friendships with completely different groups of people from different areas, countries and social groups.

2. A whole new world – traveling with strangers opens you up to a whole new world of opportunities, challenges and adventures. It enriches you as you learn about people, life and experiences while sharing a common bond together.

3. Lifelong friends – if you travel alone there’s a very good chance that some of the strangers you meet will stay in your life forever. It’s said that after spending 72 hours (three days) with someone you form a strong friendship for life and these new friends also become future travel companions.

4. Be yourself – when you travel with strangers you can be your true self and take off the mask you wear back home without being judged or criticised. Travelling with strangers allows you to feel free to be who you are!

5. Try new things – it’s easier to step outside your comfort zone when you are travelling with strangers. You try things you would normally say no to, you start to become bolder, more adventurous and more confident. It also allows you to do what you want, go where you want and see what you want instead of sticking to what your friends or partner might want to do.
