Enel, in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Alta Badia (South Tyrolean Dolomites/Italy) – The organising committee of the world’s most famous cyclosportive is already working on the 34th edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel, which will be taking place on Sunday 5th July 2020. The theme chosen for this edition is “Ert”, meaning “Art” in Ladin. Art intended as a form of beauty that goes beyond mankind, beyond ourselves. Today more than ever, we need to interpret “thauma”, which for the ancient Greeks meant wonder mixed with a sense of amazement and angst when faced with beauty, in a great piece of art regarding the conservation of our planet – a planet that is facing increasing difficulty due to climate change. The purpose of dedicating the Maratona to a different theme each year is to encourage participants to reflect on something that goes beyond simply pedalling. The theme of “Art”, referring to the beautiful masterpieces that Mother Nature has given us, including the Dolomites, aims to spark thought, raising awareness even when going on a simple bike ride.

MAXIMUM OF 9,000 PARTICIPANTS

Even the Maratona has its limits, with the most important one being that the number of participants cannot exceed 9,000, subdivided as follows: 4,400 places are selected through a draw and the remaining places are for those who have the right to participate, the official tour operators of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel, “second-chance” places and those who have paid a higher fee with the proceeds going to charity.
