In 2019, The Legendary Tour De France Comes To Tignes

Col de l’Iseran, Col de la Madeleine… The names of these mythical mountain passes resound in the ears of anyone who once enjoyed a passion for The Tour de France. Twelve years have passed since the third most watched eventin the world came to Tignes. Thi Summer,  on 26th July, Tignes will host the finish of the 19th stage of the race, at the end of a 123km ride through the Maurienne Valley.

Starting in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, this stage of the Tour will take the Col de l’ Iseran mountain pass, the highest road pass in France, pushing the peloton to an altitude of 2,770 metres. From here the competitors  will ride through Val d‘ Isère and Tignes 1550  – Les Brévières, Tignes 1800 and Tignes Le Lac before heading towards the finish line in  Tignes Val Claret, along roads with an average 7% gradient.

Only two days prior to the final outcome on the Champs Elysées, this stage of the Tour is looking to be one of the more decisive stages in the 2019 edition of the race, with sufficient difficulty to reverse the overall rankings

ON 26TH JULY, TIGNES AWAITS THE TOUR DE FRANCE CARAVAN!

Val Claret promises to be the venue for an entire day and evening of celebrations! Late afternoon, on 26th July, the public will cheer for the 180 riders in the peloton and the famous Maillot Jaune (yellow jersey. Two hours prior to the arrival of the competitors, hordes of spectators await the passage of the publicity caravan, its 160 spectacular vehicles and mountains of free goodies! The Caravan is a key part of the Tour de France, offering more than 30-minutes of excitement for over 11 kilometres!
