British outdoor brand, Rab, has revamped its pack offerings for SS25, with a new collection ranging from award-winning waterproof running packs to expedition-grade trekking backpacks.
The collection covers options for trail running, climbing, mountaineering, hiking, and much more.
We tested out just one backpack in the extensive range, the Veil XP, an ultralight, fully waterproof pack available in 20 litre and 30 litre versions, which Rab have designed for fast-moving adventures in unpredictable conditions.
We took the pack out into the hills in the Scottish Highlands and found it to be extremely comfortable and functional, whilst feeling almost weightless.

First up, the pack comes in a choice of sizes to fit your back perfectly, either the small model at 17″ / 43cm or the Medium at 19″ / 48cm. The 20 litre model weighs in at just 540 grammes, the 30 litre at 600 grammes.
Tested to IPX4, the Veil XP’s design eliminates the need for dry bags by using taped seams and waterproof fabric to keep gear dry, even in heavy rain. On our test we did go through some showers (if not heavy rain) and can confirm everything in the bag remained perfectly dry.
Built for endurance Rab say its Veil XP 3D mesh back system wicks away moisture, flexes with movement, and ensures long-lasting comfort and we can confirm that despite moving at pace at times, we stayed dry.
In addition, the pack’s Mono Mesh harness absorbs minimal moisture, while the bungee chest strap and asymmetrical hipbelt provide stability on the go.

Other pack features include a roll-top closure with side buckles allows for easy compression or expansion, adapting to changing kit loads.
With quick-access hipbelt pockets, space for hydration options, and dedicated storage for Z-poles the pack keeps essentials within reach.
It even ticks boxes for sustainability features being a fluorocarbon (PFAS) free fabric created with renewable energy powered production.
Rab say the Veil XP is made for those who move swiftly and travel light, designed for fastpackers, mountain marathoners and high-speed hikers. We fell into the last category on our test and can confirm it certainly lived up to and exceeded expectations there.
