Summer in the Mountain Heights of Friuli Venezia Giulia

Summer unfolds across the mountains of Friuli Venezia Giulia with mountain lifts operating for the summer season and a wide range of experiences to enjoy the alpine landscape through outdoor activities, cycling, scenic routes and activities for all enthusiasts. From July to September, visitors can reach the peaks of the region thanks to the lift systems operating in the main mountain destinations. PromoTurismoFVG, together with local networks and tourism consortia, confirms a summer offer that combines sport, nature, relaxation and experiences for the whole family. For mountain bike enthusiasts, alongside the reopening of the Angelo Bike Park in Tarvisio, the new Ravascletto-Zoncolan Bike Arena makes its debut, while guided hikes, workshops, nature activities and dedicated events will accompany visitors and locals throughout the season.

Adrenaline on Two Wheels: The New Ravascletto-Zoncolan Bike Arena Opens

Summer in Friuli Venezia Giulia brings exciting news for adrenaline seekers on two wheels: the new Ravascletto-Zoncolan Bike Arena has officially opened to the public, expanding the region’s cycling offer. Three trails (blue, red and black) start from the intermediate station of the Funifor lift and finish directly in front of the departure station, allowing riders to choose the route that best suits their style or to challenge themselves on all three trails.

The Angelo Bike Park in Tarvisio is also open again until 13 September, every day from 10 am to 6 pm. From the top station of the chairlift, riders can access three trails: one easier blue route and two more technical red trails, suitable for different levels of experience.

Scenic trails, guided hikes, outdoor activities and workshops exploring mountain flora and fauna are all part of the 2026 summer programme organised by local tourism networks and consortia, with experiences designed for all ages and interests.

Arta Terme offers family-friendly experiences following the Sbilfs, the mythical creatures of Carnic folklore, as well as fossil hunts in the But Valley. The programme also includes activities for body and mind, such as guided forest bathing sessions and ceramic workshops. In Sutrio, visitors can join a cooking class to learn how to prepare traditional Friulian cjarsons or set off on a fascinating guided hike along the ridge of the Carnic Alps. In Paluzza, they can discover the Timau caves and their stunning landscapes shaped by water, while Tolmezzo invites visitors to follow a musical route and explore the art of violin making. Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts can also make use of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Outdoor app, featuring hundreds of routes always at hand: from panoramic trails and paths through the woods to themed itineraries around alpine lakes and small mountain lakes, as well as routes leading to some of the region’s most scenic peaks. The app is free to download and offers routes suitable for every level, with detailed maps that can also be accessed offline to plan excursions safely. Heading Up: Mountain Lifts Open for Summer

Mountain lifts are operating in the main mountain destinations of Friuli Venezia Giulia, with daily openings throughout most of the season and extended weekend openings in September at selected locations. Chairlifts, gondolas and cable cars are running in Forni di Sopra, Piancavallo, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Sappada, Sella Nevea and Tarvisio, with different schedules on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. The region’s main summer attractions also remain open, including the Piancavallo Alpine Coaster, the Angelo Fun Area in Tarvisio and special evening openings of the Monte Lussari cable car on Fridays in August.
