The Sprint World Orienteering Championships (WOC) have announced five new sponsors for this year’s competition in Edinburgh, Scotland.

In a June press release, WOC 2024 listed Lothian Buses, the University of Edinburgh (UofE), and Cullen Property as “official Event Partners”. Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers will be an “Event Supplier”, while Masterplan’s Coast & Islands Orienteering Week will be an “Event Supporter”.

Keith Finlay, Head of Commercial for Lothian Buses, has wished “all those competing good luck.” As part of both WOC and Lothian Bus’s sustainability measures, Lothian Buses will offer discounted “citysmart” cards to spectators and athletes travelling around the city via the WOC 2024 website.

Elite athletes will have “extensive and exclusive usage” of the University of Edinburgh’s sports facilities, and the University will host WOC 2024’s “Official Event Centre and Office”. In WOC 2024’s press release, Mark Munro, Director of Sport and Active Health at the UofE, stated that the university is “excited to support this exhilarating event and welcome athletes from around the world to navigate the historic and picturesque streets of Scotland’s capital city.”

As well as helping to organise the event, Cullen Property are promoting the sport of orienteering to “their thousands of current and previous Edinburgh student tenants”.

Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers, located on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, will provide uniforms for all WOC 2024 medal and flower bearers and exclusive “tartan tote bags” to all competing team members.

The five new partners complement WOC 2024’s longstanding partnerships, including with EventScotland, The City of Edinburgh Council, and the Heart of Scotland Appeal.

WOC 2024 will bring 350 elite athletes, 400 officials, and thousands of spectators and amateur athletes to Scotland’s capital from July 12th to 16th.
