The spectacular, mountainous Italian region of Trentino is home to an impressive new statue, the Haflinger di Strembo.

The new artwork, located in the Giorgio Ducoli park in the Campigliodolomiti village of Strembo, not far from the famous ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio.

The statue took three months to create using more than 2000 pieces of Laricve root and weighs in at 2,000kg.

“It’s a work that synthesizes the soul of a land and the value of its nature, standing as witness to its wounds and, at the same time, signs of hope and rebirth skillfully told by the sensitive hands of a “wood man”, the member Martalar scultore,” a spokesperson for Campigliodolomiti explained.

Seven metres high, five metres long and 2.5 metres wide it’s reported to be already in the Guinness Book of records as Europe’s largest wooden horse

The official inauguration of the statue will take place on April 27th.
