California: Surf and Ski

What to do in California?   Hmmmm, isn’t it obvious?  Surf in the morning then head up to Mammoth for an afternoon ski.   This is our idea of heaven…

Mammoth Mountain is currently having a whopping record season (15 meters to date) and the end is nowhere in sight and with just this month alone another meter has dumped onto the slopes. Open until the 4^th of July, these amazing conditions are perfect for some late spring skiing.    But it you’re really rock n roll, you’d start your day off with a surf in the Wedge, Newport Beach and then head up Mammoth for the afternoon…

NEWPORT BEACH is only 45 min South of LA , the epic scenery , numerous waterfront fine dining locations, endless beaches, luxury shopping and water sports make for the starter of your Spring  for this trip. Great activities to complement this are whale watching, dock & dine (park your boat in front of the restaurant), gondola rides at night time and paddle boarding lessons in the marina where  you’ll be surrounded by dolphins and sea lions who all frequent the marina as well.

Once you are warmed up, jump on the daily flight to Mammoth Lakes from LAX.

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN is a true Valhalla for the (experienced) skier. At 11,053 feet, Mammoth boasts one of the highest summits making for deeper, higher quality snow, an absolute freshies galore! With 28 lifts (including  9 high speed quads, 2 high speed six-packs and 3 high speed gondolas) 2 resorts and a tubing park you will never run out of options to enjoy the snow and stunning vistas. You will certainly understand why so many pro athletes use these mountains as their training grounds. The season will once again continue until  4^th of July and this time of year is  the perfect time for the ‘High Sierra Trifecta’ during which you can ski in the morning, mountain bike or hike during a sunny early afternoon and finish with water sports.
