Kendal Mountain Festival Tour Heads for London and Brighton

The Kendal Mountain Festival Tour around the UK will reach the Rio Cinema in Hackney, London, on 7th June at 8pm, before a stop in Brighton at the Old Market Theratre on the 8th with doors opening at 7pm.

As well as hearing from guest speakers Jenny Tough and Dave Cornthwaite, they will also be showing a selection of the best adventure films from around the world including ‘Johanna’ – the Finnish free diver who dives under the ice, and Tome Seipp, the fearless young cyclist with an incredible enthusiasm for long journeys on his bike.

The touring version of the Kendal Mountain Festival (previously awarded Visit England’s ‘Tourism Event of the Year’ ) celebrates and shares adventure with guests invited to enjoy an evening packed full of award-winning films and first-hand accounts from some of the UK’s most intrepid explorers.

Speaker at the London show British adventurer Dave Cornthwaite (above) became the first person to skateboard from John O’Groats to Lands End. He’s best known for Expediton1000 – a plan to undertake 25 separate journeys of 1000+ miles using non-motorised transport.

Fellow speaker Jenny Tough (above, speaking at both London and Brighton) has travelled six continents, solo. She has cycled around Europe, paddled through the South American jungle, run marathons on four continents, hiked throughout Asia, trekked in Patagonia, dived with sharks, surfed in the North Sea, competed in numerous adventure races, and lived in five countries.

Films being shown include ‘Johanna’  Finnish freediver Johanna Nordblad holds the world record for a 50-meter dive under ice. She discovered her love for the sport through cold-water treatment while recovering from a downhill biking accident that almost took her leg.
