SalzburgerLand is one of Austria’s most picturesque regions and is the ultimate active playground for those who love the great outdoors. Whether it’s hiking, paddleboarding or even zorbing, there are countless ways to enjoy the Alpine surroundings here – whether you’re on a romantic luxury retreat or a fantastic family adventure. However, without a doubt our favourite ways to enjoy SalzburgerLand is on two wheels, where you can get out in the fresh air and really get a feel for the landscape.

With around 7,000km of cycling and mountain biking trails in SalzburgerLand, there are numerous different ways to explore the area’s many towns and cities by bike – regardless of ability level or personal preference.

We’ve put together a few of our all time favourite SalzburgerLand cycle routes, whether you prefer cultural experiences, E-Bike excursions or adrenaline-inducing mountain bike routes.

For Music Lovers – The Mozart Cycle Path

A Gentle Route Drinking in Sights, Sounds and Salzburg.

From Mozart to Maria Von Trapp, SalzburgerLand has a rich history when it comes to music, with open air concerts taking place in Salzburg throughout the summer and cultural festivals bringing beautiful sounds to the mountains.

To get your musical fix on two wheels from the city of Salzburg, you can begin the Mozart Cycle Path, which takes visitors over 450km to sites special to this musical genius. Don’t be daunted by the route length – for the most part this journey enjoys flat, gentle cycle paths and quiet roads.

You’ll drink in the sights and sounds of Salzburg itself, before travelling along the old Ischler Railway into the beautiful village of St. Gilgen and the stunning Salzburg Lake District. Then you will enter into the Bavarian section of the path, continuing through the Inn Valley and along the Saalach River, circling back to your starting point in Salzburg.

It’s an absolutely beautiful itinerary, taking in some of SalzburgerLand’s best landscapes and providing an interesting insight into the life of one of music’s greats.
