New Helicopter-Accessed Via Ferrata in Canada

STORY BY Megan Hughes 28th May 2019

The famous CMH Heli-Skiing operation in British Columbia, Canada, has been expanding its range of summer activities offered from its Bobbie Burns lodge.

The summer programme is being boosted by a £4m ($8.4m CAD) renovation project, the largest infrastructure project the company has undertaken since 2002.

Part of this money will go on a new via ferrata opening this summer, which will give the company’s summer guests the chance to navigate canyon ledges and glacier-fed waterfalls on the new Zillmer Canyon Via Ferrata.

The Zillmer Canyon Via Ferrata is only accessible by helicopter, and guests led by a professional mountain guide and secured in a tightfitted climbing harness will double-clip into the safety line before ascending the exhilarating mountain route through the winding course of the canyon, following the glacial waters and traversing ever closer to the ancient glacier above.
