Get Active This Autumn and Next Summer in the French Alps

STORY BY Patrick 13th September 2017

Active summer and autumn holidays in the Alps are getting more and more popular.

People are increasingly turning their backs on crowded, over hot beach holidays and instead enjoying the space, scenery and pure air of the mountains.

The good news is that ski resorts are doing battle to attract this growing market, and as a result there’s an ever-greater choice of activities to enjoy, and they’re often all (or mostly all) included in a summer adventure pass for one comparatively low price.

And just how ‘active’ you are is up to you.  You can spend the day by the pool or in a spa, or just sitting sipping an espresso or a glass of wine taking in the magnificent scenery.

Most people opt for a bit of both.

The problem that some Brits face however is finding local experts who know what’s good, what’s not so good and what’s utterly brilliant from all the activities on offer.

It can also be difficult to find something that offers more than a rather soul-less self-catering accommodation option in the big French resorts.

So it’s good news that the long-time British experts in the village of Vaujany, part of an outdoor activity area around the big resort of Alpe d’Huez in the French Alps, run a summer and autumn operation, Peak Adventures.

The team behind Peak Adventures is Ski Peak who will be operating in the village, year-in, year-out, for three decades as of next year, and have really unrivalled knowledge and contacts when it comes to advising and booking you on to one of several dozen activity options available in the region.

There’s everything from archery to white water rafting, cycling one of the most iconic climbs of the Tour de France (or something less challenging) to trying a via ferrata or canyoning to paragliding.

There are all the more regular sports too swimming, tennis, boules or bowling, mountain biking or horse riding as well as options that really get you out there like canyoning, hot air balloon flights or perhaps a short at hydro speeding.

The company running Peak Adventures have a remarkably consistent 5 star rating for customer satisfaction from Feefo and operate a choice of four beautiful catered and self-catered chalets in Vaujany which can, depending on the chalet and the time of your visit, be booked by the room or by the whole chalet.

The company’s flagship property, Chalet Saskia, also has the highest satisfaction ratings possible, is renowned for the service and great food served up by the chalet team and offers excellent facilities including its own spa.  Summer and autumn prices are however extremely reasonable.

Visit www.peak-adventures.net for full details of the chalets, much more information on the wonderful village of Vaujany and detailed information on cycling and driving in the area in summer as well as on adventure sports available as well as activities such as spa treatments and yoga sessions.
