Cosmos launches UK tours

New for 2019, Cosmos now offers UK tours, complementing existing Irish tours in the global portfolio.   

Capitalising on UK travellers’ appetite to explore the abundance of culinary, cultural and scenic offerings in their homeland, planning a trip closer to home doesn’t have to mean less adventure. Highlights of the new UK tours:

Cosmos

England, Scotland & Wales (13 days): Highlights include Northumberland National Park, with its wide-open spaces and landscapes; Brecon Beacons National Park, with its dramatic landscapes; Dartmoor National Park; and incomparable Snowdonia National Park in Wales, with picturesque villages, mountains, and lakes. Guests have the opportunity to drive through the Lake District, England’s largest and finest natural park and recently awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. York, Bath and Stratford-upon-Avon are all waiting to be explored and guests also have the opportunity to see the Mayflower Steps in Plymouth, where the Pilgrim Fathers embarked in 1620 for America. Guests can enjoy an orientation drive in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and sightseeing in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital. Highlights of Ireland & Scotland (12 days): The itinerary explores Trinity College and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the village of Blarney, the Ring of Kerry and the Cliffs of Moher. In Belfast guests will board a ferry for an Irish Sea crossing to Cairnryan and then on to Glasgow. Travellers can search for the Loch Ness monster, explore the Highland capital of Inverness, and Scotland’s famed whisky region. Scottish Outlander Adventure (7 days): This affordable Cosmos tour takes in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling to admire the prized castle of Scottish kings and symbol of the country’s independence. In Bo’ness, Outlander fans can snap a photo at the railway station featured in the television series. Next, travellers will take the elegant Forth Road Bridge to St. Andrews—the home of golf, the cross Firth of Tay and head into the Highlands. Guests will stop off on the way in the Victorian mountain resort of Pitlochry before crossing haunting Culloden Moor, where the Jacobites made their final stand in 1746. The holiday begins with a guided tour of Glengoyne Whisky Distillery and a visit to Stirling Castle, a heroic symbol of Scottish Independence and residence of Scotland’s kings and queens. Other highlights include crossing waters to the Isle of Skye via ferry, the largest island of the Inner Hebrides, marvelling at Loch Ness, an opportunity to hit a few golf balls at St. Andrew’s golf practice centre and the chance to explore the winding streets of Edinburgh. From the Shannon to the Thames (13 days): Beginning in Ireland, this Globus tour takes in England, Scotland and Ireland. Highlights include the Cliffs of Moher, Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim, visiting the Titanic Experience in Belfast and visiting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon in addition to admiring Stonehenge. The tour ends in London and includes sightseeing with a Local Guide to take in famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. The Cotswolds, Bath, Salisbury are all ready to be explored on this Globus tour, along with a visit across the Solent to the Isle of Wight with a trip to Queen Victoria’s palatial holiday home, Osborne House.
