Dive Into Anguilla’s Unique Watersports Scene With Night-Time LED Kayaking

STORY BY Megan Hughes 10th July 2018

The tiny island of Anguilla is well known as the home of some of world’s best beaches, but it doesn’t stop at cabanas and rum punch. Anguilla’s watersports scene is certainly making a splash with some amazing options for navigating the Island’s crystal clear waters, secret coves and miles-upon-miles of stunning coastline and offshore islets.

Liquid Glow

Perhaps the most spectacular water based activity in Anguilla is LED kayaking. Experience paddling through the crystal clear waters of Anguilla by day or more spectacularly, by night. Glide over the waters from sunset in a transparent kayak illuminated by colourful LEDs that light up the ocean and attract tropical fish to the kayaks. The tours, which are led by an experienced tour guide, also offer kayakers the opportunity to spot turtles and stingrays in their natural environment.  Day tours are available to Little Bay, one of Anguilla’s most remote beaches and an ideal spot for snorkelling.

Traditional Sailing

As the island’s national sport, many locals have learnt to sail from the moment they could walk. As well as being a highly competitive sport on the island, it is the perfect way for visitors to enjoy the glorious six marine protected areas of Anguilla including Prickly Pear Cays, where they can enjoy a day trip with a picnic. Numerous sailing events take place throughout the year, making the sport accessible for all- from serious sailors to visitors wanting to enjoy it as spectators.
