Italy’s Alta Badia region have launched a new way of experiencing the beauty of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage, through sport, well-being and nature this summer.
Plenty of positive emotion and outdoor adrenaline will be available through trekking, hiking, free climbing, bike touring, paragliding and geocaching with the area’s new Explore Your Way initiative.
The new project includes all the action-packed sports activities that you can enjoy between 1500 and 3000m during summer with a large number of guided activities, offered each week as part of the programme.
Activities that mountain lovers can choose from, according to their interests, are divided into four types. The “nature gym” category is based on activities like trail running, geocaching, orienteering and speed-hiking, while the “rock your body” category includes trekking, climbing, free climbing and vie ferrate. The “bike” category is dedicated to mountain bike fans and includes bike touring, freeriding and enduro. Finally the “flying” category is dedicated to those who love pure adrenaline, with paragliding, hang gliding and slacklining.
Trekking With A Tent Overnight Stay
Explore your way! offers the possibility to book guided trekking tours with an overnight stay in a tent on July 13-14 and August 3-4 at the Pralongiá and on July 27-28 at the Boé. The trekking includes a guided excursion through the nature beauties of Alta Badia with an overnight stay in a tent. Participants in August will enjoy also an astronomical observation of the sky with its star constellation above Alta Badia with an expert of the Cortina Astronomical Association. In the morning a short walk to enjoy sunrise is planned before breakfast. A longer excursion will complete the trekking in the heart of the Dolomites, that will end in the afternoon. The trekking costs 170€ per person and it includes the overnight stay in the tent, the breakfast, the dinner and the guided excursions.
“Explore Your Way” Events
There are lots of “Explore your way” events and initiatives organized during the whole Summer. On July 28 and August 25 there will be a triathlon race with e-bike, running and orienteering competitions. For those who want to participate in a rock climbing course there will be this possibility for beginners on June 28, July 26, August 23 and September 13. The “Boé slackline show” will be hold on Sunday July 30 and it foresees several exhibitions by professionals and the tasting of gourmet pizzas cooked by Michelin starred chef Simone Padoan.
Movimënt Parks at 2000m
As part of the “Explore your way!” initiative, dedicated to those who love active holidays in direct contact with nature and with the magic of the Dolomites, there are also Movimënt Parks, located in Piz La Ila, Piz Sorega, Pralongiá and Boé that you can reach easily by ski lift thanks to the Alta Badia Summer Pass. The Movimënt Parks are connected by pleasant paths that you can follow by bike, on foot or on an E-bike, which makes travelling round the mountains quicker and more fun. E-bikes can be rented at the stations at the top of the Piz La Ila, Piz Sorega and Col Alto ski lifts or in the centres of La Villa and Corvara. For kids you can hire strollers designed for mountain paths. Entry and use of Movimënt areas are free.
Explore Your Way! Hotels
Booking a stay at one of the “Explore your way! “structures is ideal for those looking for a made to measure holiday created according to your needs. These hotels allow you to enjoy activity from A-Z. Every structure taking part has their own “Explore your way!” expert who will advise clients on the vast range of activities planned. The structure itself also offers two guided activities each week. Backpacks and trekking poles are supplied free for individual activities, and there is constant support for those who love active holidays.
