STORY BY Patrick 18th October 2017

In a world of social media and 24/7 digital access glamping combines the luxuries of home with the feeling of experiencing the extraordinary elements of nature up close – offering guests a once-in-a-lifetime outdoor experience to re-connect, and the chance to totally switch off.

For 2018, a unique way to discover America’s dramatic Southwest will be at Under Canvas’ new luxury campsites, in Zion and Moab, with a further campsite set to open in the Grand Canyon in late 2018 – aiding guests to go off-grid and experience extraordinary adventures with friends and family.

For the ultimate desert adventure Scott Dunn offers guests an American road-trip journey combining stays at Under Canvas’ luxurious campsites.

Guests can camp in style at the gateways to the breath-taking Zion Natural Park, Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Both Moab and Zion are an outdoor lover’s paradise and there is plenty on offer at the campsites to keep guests active, with the dramatic surroundings and canyons providing an exhilarating playground. Guests can embrace their inner-adventurer, spending their days rafting along whitewater rivers, riding along trails on horseback and rock climbing and hiking amongst the impressive red rock terrain and deep canyons of Utah.

Scenic flights, helicopter tours and hot air balloon rides can also be arranged to admire Utah’s spectacular scenery from above, whilst those who prefer to stay at ground level can head out by jeep for a sunset safari tour. Back at camp, guests enjoy all creature comforts staying in luxurious safari-style tents with wood-burning stoves, high-thread count bedding, sumptuous king-size beds, private deck areas and private en-suite bathrooms with roll top baths.

At Zion, special stargazer tents with large skylight windows are available on request. For those wishing to fully embrace the camping spirit, the staff can deliver BBQ ingredients straight to tents for a delicious DIY meal and picnics are available daily for lunch on the go.

Scott Dunn offers a tailor-made two-week desert southwest adventure including glamping in Moab and Zion National Parks from £5,400 per person, this is based on a family of four sharing and includes international flights and transfers.
