Highest Pump Track in the Alps Opens

STORY BY Patrick 22nd August 2017

The family-friendly French resort of La Plagne has created the highest pump track in the Alps.

Situated in Plagne Bellecote, the new Pump Track is a circuit of twists, turns and bumps specially-designed to be ridden by riders pumping their body up and down, with no need for pedalling.

Riders can use all manner of equipment: bikes, rollerblades, skateboards or scooters and can reach 15 km/h as they pick up speed on a thrilling ride.

The highest Pump Track in the Alps – and the first ever to be opened in the Tarentaise Valley – the Pump Track features two routes, suitable for different skill-levels. The Green track is 50m long and is suitable for beginners and children.

Those with more experience and greater confidence can tackle the more advanced Red and Blue routes on the second 200 m track, with the Blue being the easier of the two and the Red offering a more technically challenging route.

Surrounded by lush pine trees and with a backdrop of spectacular mountain scenery, the views are beautiful and ensure that a ride on the Pump Track is breathtaking in more than one way!

Open until the winter time, the La Plagne Pump Track is free and can be combined with a whole host of other thrilling activities for a fun-packed summer holiday in the Alps.

These activities include the Via Ferrata les Bourtes – a rock-climbing course where there is no need to unclip, set at 2,350m to 2,560m up, and including two zipwires – and the extensive electric mountain biking options, with 150 km of marked trails showing off the stunning alpine landscapes.

One week’s self-catering accommodation in La Plagne costs from €172 / £155 pp.
