MURREN OPENS NEW THRILL WALK

STORY BY Patrick 18th January 2017

Glass bottomed bridges, balconies and gondola cabins have been all the rage for some time, along with flimsy high-altitude suspension bridges that seem to serve no purpose except to alarm, so Murren in Switzerland has decided to roll several of these attractions in to one – its new ‘Thrill Walk’ which opens this weekend and is pictured here under construction.

The new Thrill Walk leads from the Birg terrace down to the vertical walls of the imposing rock massif. The 200 meter long steel structured design clings to the rocks and then swings under the observation deck and below the cable car station.

The cliff path include a variety of sections; an interplay of air, glass and grating! It includes about 20 metres walking on a glass bottom floor followed by 10 metres over cattle grid type of flooring. There is also an 8 metre Nepal bridge and an 8 metre long crawling area for children planned.

It will be open year round, subject to conditions.
