Travelling to cycling holidays in the Alps will be even easier this summer, with the addition of a new route from London Stansted to Grenoble Alpes Isère airport.
The flight will be operated three times a week by Ryanair on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in July so enable a long weekend of summer cycling in the Alps.
Le Bourg d’Oisans, a hugely popular road cycling destination, is easy to reach from Grenoble Alpes Isère airport. It is found at the bottom of the world famous climb to Alpe d’Huez, boasting over 20 hairpin bends and regularly featuring in the Tour de France route.
For cyclists who want to base themselves in the alpine resort of Alpe d’Huez and Les Deux Alpes to take advantage of the lift assisted trails, Grenoble Alpes Isère airport is easily accessible in less than 90 minutes’ drive.
Bassma Jarbouai, director of the airport, says: “We are delighted to welcome this new regular flight for the summer season. Grenoble Alpes Isère airport is predominantly used for business flights as well as being a popular gateway to the ski resorts of the Alps in the winter, so it is fantastic for us to have these flights to bring more holidaymakers to the region throughout the summer too.”
Jean-Pierre Barbier, President of the Department and Deputy of Isère, says: “Our region has so much to offer holidaymakers. There are many fantastic cycling routes through our beautiful mountain villages with stunning views to enjoy. We also have a number of events planned this summer, including the popular Festival Berlioz – a symphonic music festival taking place in late August.”
Customers travelling from Grenoble Alpes Isère airport this summer will benefit from recent investment in its services. Everyone travelling through the airport will be able to take advantage of free Wi-Fi as they wait for their flight. Signage has been improved to help holidaymakers navigate through the airport to enjoy the shops and restaurants. Finally, to reduce the time customers spend land-side, the airport has introduced a Fast Track boarding area which allows access to the airside lounge from 90 minutes before their flight so they can wait in comfort.
