In TALA, the latest film from The North Face, elite ultrarunner Fernanda Maciel strips adventure down to its purest form: one woman, one trail, and only what she can carry.
Her challenge? The GR11 — an 800km (500 mile) traverse across the spine of the Pyrenees, from the Atlantic coast at Faro de Cabo Higuer to the Mediterranean cliffs of Cap de Creus.
Over twelve days and twelve hours, Fernanda moved entirely self-supported, navigating jagged ridgelines, silent forests, and remote mountain passes. With no crew, no contact, and no comforts, solitude became her companion — and the landscape, her mirror.
“This was the hardest project of my life,” she reflects. “I was scared to die there. But when you have a dream, you find the power to push through.”
TALA is more than a feat of endurance. It’s a raw, poetic meditation on resilience, presence, and the deep human connection to wild places. Shot amid the stark beauty of the Pyrenees, it captures both the physical intensity of the trail and the quiet revelations found in isolation.
