A Summer Escape in SalzburgerLand

Chamonix in France was originally only ever popular in the summer.
This was due to the valley’s reputation as a mountaineering destination, and the challenge that was conquering the infamous Mont Blanc summit – something that climbers wanted the milder climate for. The snow was actually viewed as a nuisance and the mountains were originally feared by locals! It wasn’t really until after 1924 that the ‘ski season’, as we know it today, really took hold following the first Winter Olympics which were held in Chamonix.
A summer holiday in Chamonix alone offers so much to holidaymakers of all ages. The Carte d’Hote (Chamonix Guest Card) is valid throughout the year offering free travel on buses and trains, and a plethora of discounts throughout the valley, so it’s a great alternative to the beaches of Europe (if flying short-haul from the UK).
Summer activities on offer in the valley include:
Martin Bromley, general manager at Les Rives d’Argentière, says: “It is an ideal time to make the most of a bargain getaway – summer prices can be over 60% cheaper than during the winter season across flights, accommodation and activities.
“A stay in a luxury chalet, such as Les Rives, is actually similar to that of an all-inclusive break in the sunshine – great food and drink, sunbathing, swimming, and a vast variety of activities available for those who want to leave the poolside for adventure etc.
Temperatures here can get up to 24C and, whilst we might not have a beach on hand, there is nothing more spectacular than sipping a cocktail by our private pool looking up at the gorgeous Mont-Blanc massif in full bloom.”
The summer season at Les Rives d’Argentière runs from June to Oct and week stays start from just £3500. For more information visit https://www.lesrivesdargentiere.com
