What’s New In Les 2 Alpes?

Les 2 Alpes will open on Saturday 22 June for the summer season! Check below what’s new for Le 2 Alpes this Summer:

NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND PROJECTS

Les 2 Alpes has multiple long-term development projects involving its ski area, property and facilities. More than 500 million of Euros will be invested in the resort by 2023. This summer, work  will be done on the slopes and new lifts will be built, in order to reorganise the flux of skiers for winter 2019-20.

• The work to build a new cable car will start. The ‘Pierre Grosse’ cable-car will link the Toura/ La Fée area at 2,100m to the glacier. It will arrive at the top of the Signal chairlift at 3,100m.

• A new 8-seat chairlift will replace the 4-seat one in Les Crêtes area at 2,100m.

• A new 4-seat chairlift will replace the 3-seat one in the Thuit area.

Thanks to those new lifts, skiers will be able to access new areas and the second part of the Jandri Express (2,600m – 3,200m) will be less busy.

BETWEEN 2019 AND 2021 :PROJECT TO EXTEND THE ARTIFICIAL SNOW NETWORK

Between spring 2019 and 2021, Deux Alpes Loisirs, the company that operates the ski area, will be continuing its work to preserve the snow mantle with the construction of La Mura reservoir and associated pumping premises, as well as expanding the network between Les Crêtes (2,100 metres) and Le Grand Nord (2,600 metres).

The goal is to eventually guarantee a minimum 30% coverage of the ski area surface in artificial snow. Today, Les 2 Alpes has 250 artificial snow-makers and produces 360,000m³ of artificial snow. Thanks to the installation of the 6 snowmakers on the glacier at the Autumn 2017, 80cm of ice has been made.

MULTIPLE PROPERTY DEVELOPMENTS BETWEEN 2019 AND 2021

Les 2 Alpes will benefit from a major property development scheme. The main developments are:

• SAFILAF Néméa Tourist Residence, between Les Marmottes residence and the Vallée Blanche chair lift will be completely renovated (931 beds/104 4-star apartments and 91 4-star Premium apartments).

• Le Chalet du Soleil Residence (Terrésens) will offer 221 beds (44 apartments).

• LES CLARINES residence (MMV) on the Super Venosc sector will be renovated into 160 apartments /800 beds.

FIRST SUMMER FOR LES 2 ALPES HOSTEL

Les 2 Alpes Hostel, from the group France HOSTELS, opened on 15 December 2018. With 362 beds, it is the biggest mountain hostel in France. Les 2 Alpes Hostel comprises 44 private bedrooms, as well as 43 shared bedrooms each with 4, 6 or 8 beds. It also has a restaurant and a bar open to the public, a chill-out room and a large terrace. Prices start from €19 per night in a dormitory and€59 for a private room (for 2). www.thepeoplehostel.com

NEW ACTIVITIES

• There is a new slopestyle skate-park culminating in a bowl (a permanent module recessed into the ground, located between the street and the ramp) in the resort centre at an altitude of 1,600metres. It was built last year and costed €250 000.

• ‘Ventriglisse’ is a 40m long toboggan with a landing in the Buissonnière lake. It will open every Fridays.

• Unique in Les 2 Alpes, mountain biking instructors teach children over 6 years old. A 5-day camp for 6 to 10 years old costs €195 (teaching, equipment, lift pass and medal at the end!)
