Wales has an abundance of coastline which attracts a wide variety of marine life due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. Dolphins, seals, porpoises and other sea creatures are regularly sited along the Welsh coastline and there are a number of Welsh hot spots for dolphin spotting in the summer months.

Newport Bay, Pembrokeshire

The deep blue sea, beautiful rocky coast and smooth white sand of Newport Bay is the ideal location to see whales, dolphins and porpoises. Sightings also include a blue whale and a great white! The sightings are helped by the nutrient rich waters flowing in from the Atlantic which make for the perfect feeding and breeding grounds for over a hundred resident bottlenose dolphins. The dolphins travel to Newport Bay from Cardigan Bay and if that’s not enough reason to visit Newport Bay during the summer months, hundreds of visiting dolphins can be seen with very young calves – making it one for the family holiday album.
