Kudos Cycling launch training camps in Switzerland

STORY BY admin 27th March 2018

Road cyclists targeting the greatest Alpine sportives can now book a Kudos Performance Improvement Training package with ex-pro cyclist coaching that starts long before they arrive in the Alps, as part of their cycle training camp in Switzerland’s Valais region.

After the training camp in the Swiss Alps, Kudos Cycling will follow the rider’s progress right up to their season goal itself – whether it’s the Etape du Tour, the Marmotte or a charity ride.

The coaching starts with an initial fitness test, followed by a 6-8 week personalised training plan for each rider, monitoring and feeding back on training data before their arrival in Martigny, in Switzerland’s Valais. This way riders will arrive ready to make the best of the coaching and spectacular riding scenery when they get there.

According to Kudos Cycling founder Anthony Walker: “By coaching up to arrival at the training camp and following riders on to their season goal event, we’ll give them the best chance of achieving their cycling ambitions. This doesn’t have to be just a cycling holiday.”

Applying the latest sports science methods, including fitness tests and lactates analysis in conjunction with the Swiss Olympic Centre in Sion, plus daily rider briefings, in-the-field coaching and one-on-one sessions, the team will ensure riders get the maximum gains out of their stay in Switzerland.

The Valais, often visited by the Tour de France and Tour de Suisse, has world class riding and what’s more, all the daily guided and supported rides are designed by local pro rider Steve Morabito. Each route has specific training objectives for identified rider development needs – whether it’s descending, climbing, pacing, echelon riding or effective cornering.

The accommodation in the town of Martigny – the hub of the pass routes across the Simplon, Grand St. Bernard and Forclaz – is stylish and bike friendly, and Kudos includes professional mechanic supported bike building and bike packing at either end of the stay for peace of mind and safety.

All Performance Training packages include:

  • 6-8 weeks personalized training plan prior to arrival in Switzerland
  • Remote training, data monitoring, analysis and email feedback via Strava (Premium membership required) or Garmin Connect
  • Fitness test and lactate analysis in Switzerland on arrival
  • One-on-one coaching in Switzerland
