Revitalise, Run and Recharge in Yorkshire

STORY BY Patrick 11th December 2025

Set against sweeping views of the Yorkshire Pennine Hills, Summit Moor has launched its first immersive weekend that promises a powerful blend of movement, nature, nourishment, and mindful recovery.

Taking place from 20–22 February 2026, the two-night trail running retreat will take place in the heart of Yorkshire at the Westwood Retreat Centre.

Designed for trail runners seeking a winter Espace, camaraderie, and calm, the retreat brings together guided runs, rejuvenating yoga, inspiring conversation, and wholesome food—all in a breathtaking winter landscape.

Participants will arrive at the retreat centre from 4pm on Friday, kicking off the weekend with a shake-out run, locally handmade sourdough pizzas, welcome drinks, and an athlete Q&A. Saturday begins with a yoga and movement class tailored for runners, delivered on-site by Om Yoga Studio, followed by a freshly prepared pre-run brunch.

The group will then embark on a 4–5 hour (25–30km) guided run through the Pennine Hills, covering part of the iconic Pennine Way, finishing at a microbrewery in Marsden for optional food and drinks, with kit bags transported and taxis returning everyone to the retreat centre for a relaxed movie night.

On Sunday, a morning movement session and brunch set the tone for an 8–10km run from the retreat centre, wrapping up around 1pm; while room check-out is at midday, participants may remain on-site until 3pm, with showers available for further exploration. The retreat includes two nights’ accommodation, Friday night drinks and pizzas, brunch on both days, yoga and movement classes, guided trail runs led by ultra-marathon coach and Salomon athlete Nige, aid-station supplies, snacks, fruit, granola, and in-room tea and coffee.

The weekend will be a delight for runners comfortable with up to 4 hours on trails, adults 18+, and anyone excited to explore the Pennine Way in winter. But is not suitable for complete beginners or those averse to winter trail conditions.
