Framed by Lake Annecy’s turquoise waters and the dramatic peaks of the Bornes and Aravis ranges, the Annecy Mountains region is one of France’s most compelling summer playgrounds. It blends Alpine adventure with lakeside relaxation, centuries‑old farming culture with contemporary creativity, and charming villages with a lively city scene in Annecy itself.
Visitors come for hiking, cycling, swimming and paragliding, but stay for the region’s warm hospitality, rich gastronomy and easy access from Geneva. With protected natural spaces, vibrant cultural events and a growing number of innovative attractions, the Annecy Mountains offer a refreshing, authentic and endlessly varied summer escape.
The Annecy Mountains region is gearing up for a vibrant summer season, marked by new attractions, refreshed experiences and a growing focus on culture, nature and family‑friendly adventure. At the heart of Annecy, the newly landscaped Haras Park has opened as a 2.5‑hectare green haven just steps from the historic centre. Its meadows, groves and herbal gardens create a peaceful urban retreat, while a 1,600 m² modular fountain square provides space for performances and relaxed summer gatherings. Designed with biodiversity and sustainable water management in mind, the park celebrates the heritage of the former National Stud Farm and sets the stage for two major openings: the gourmet market hall in spring 2026 and the International City of Animation this June.

In La Clusaz (pictured above), summer visitors can now try La Luge des Bois, a new four‑season alpine coaster that winds through the forest above the Bossonnet platform. Designed for all ages, it offers a fun, safe way to experience the mountains, with evening sessions extending the adventure long after the hiking boots come off.
Nearby in Saint‑Jean‑de‑Sixt, the recently opened Flo Little Ranch brings a touch of the American West to the Alps. This immersive Western‑riding experience welcomes families, friends and corporate groups for tailor‑made programmes, including the signature “Day in the Life of a Cowboy” with ranch tours, riding introductions, hearty meals and horseback outings overlooking the surrounding peaks.
Sporting events are also evolving, with the Marathon du Clair de Lune returning on 9 May 2026. Starting from Doussard at 8 p.m., the iconic night race around Lake Annecy blends moonlit scenery, lakeside nature and a festive atmosphere for runners and spectators alike.

Food lovers will find plenty to celebrate in Thônes, where La Guinguette Gourmande transforms the town each September into a lively open‑air festival of flavours. Around fifty producers from across France and beyond gather for three days of tastings, themed bars, live music and cooking workshops, creating a warm, convivial event just 90 minutes from Geneva.
La Clusaz adds another atmospheric highlight with the Balade au Clair de Lune, returning for its third edition. For one evening, the village switches off public lighting and invites visitors to wander by candlelight and torchlight, discovering artists, musicians and performers who bring the streets to life in a soft, magical glow.
Finally, high on the Beauregard plateau, La Ferme de Lorette continues to offer one of the region’s most authentic agricultural experiences. This century‑old family farm, set within a Natura 2000 protected area, opens its doors to visitors keen to understand traditional Alpine cheesemaking. Tastings, farm visits and panoramic walks make it an ideal summer escape for anyone seeking nature, heritage and exceptional local produce.
