Val Gardena’s “Dolomites Ranger” – the First Time Val Gardena’s Mountain Rangers are in action!
This summer season, Val Gardena will introduce “mountain rangers” to the valley.
Four Dolomites Rangers, who are tasked with protecting Val Gardena’s unique nature will take turns to work across the valley’s locations to raise awareness on how to behave, give safety tips to hikers and cyclists, provide information about the paths, weather, and other relevant topics as well as monitoring illegal camping practices. Rangers can also perform first aid in the case of an emergency.
For the last two years, one of the Rangers has already been working for the Selva di Val Gardena Tourism Bureau, on Passo Gardena and Passo Sella. He has already delivered positive results, especially concerning illegal parking and camping.

The project is backed by the Val Gardena Tourism Offices, the valleys’ municipalities, the Seceda cable car, and the valley’s lift facilities’ association.
The Dolomites Rangers will work in lockstep with the municipal police, the forest authority, and the Judacrëp Gherdëina mountain rescue team.
The Rangers were created by the Province’s Office for Nature, Landscape, and Territorial Development in line with the Puez-Odle Nature Park’s principles. The Rangers took part in a first aid course so as to act swiftly and correctly in case of an emergency.
They will work from June until the end of September. This pilot project aims to identify different challenges and issues to improve important topics for the future. A daily, digital report will aid the systematic collection and assessment of their work.
